Authors are always happy to receive comments about a work they have produced. Connecting with readers is why we write. Here is a note I received that I just had to share.

Last night, I finished reading The Reckoning and wanted you to know how much I appreciated your writing this riveting novel. As a former fourth grade teacher who strove to include all voices and some of the hardest but most essential topics to which I exposed my students, I still maintain my quest to stay abreast of current children's literature. Your book seems perfect for fifth-seventh grade, and I will certainly pass along my praises of it to my former colleagues at The Wheeler School in Providence, RI. I am building a library of books for my grandson, Eli, and hope to share your books with him when he is old enough.
